R5 Highly Commended for e-FX Initiative of the Year
R5, the emerging marketplace for local market FX trading, today announced that Jon Vollemaere, CEO of R5, has been awarded the e-FX Achievement Award by FX Week magazine.
In addition, R5 was Highly Commended in FX Week’s e-FX Initiative of the Year category.
FX Week awards recognise industry excellence and innovation in e-FX and are the benchmark for the global FX industry. The e-FX achievement award is presented to individuals who have played a pivotal role in the development of electronic trading in FX.
Jon began his career at Reuters working on the Dealing platform, before joining Currenex, an ECN founded in 1999. Later he joined FXCM and Barclays, before co-founding FXecosystem, the low latency trading network. In 2013 Jon founded R5, the dedicated emerging markets multi-dealer trading platform, which went live in 2015.
“Jon has spent his 25 year career delivering new and innovative technology to the FX market, including now at R5”, said Eva Szalay, Editor of FX Week. “Ultimately e-FX has helped to increase efficiency, transparency and market access, but it has also created a platform for creativity and innovation to grow across the FX market. For these reasons Jon is the first recipient of the FX Week e-FX achievement award.”
R5 is a global FinTech, which offers both interbank and “All-to-All” FX trading marketplaces, and is dedicated to emerging markets. Its focus is to stimulate growth in the trading of EMFX, as the market migrates from being largely voice and exchange traded, to a transparent and efficient screen-based market, providing deeper liquidity and increased capacity for all.
